The Rock of Castellane

I doubt you’ll find the village of Castellane mentioned on on any travel guides of Europe, but only because there are simply so many other amazing secrets like it to be found in Southern France.

Stumbling unannounced across places like this is my idea of a perfect holiday. I could only sat and wondered at how many battles and sieges had raged at the base of the towering Rock of Castellane. Still today a tiny chapel sits at the top, getting that little bit closer to God, while looking down on the narrow stone bridge that once carried the armies of Napoleon himself across Europe.

“phhh..", just another anonymous French town!
