Agave
While fearsome dinosaurs have long since left this planet, this looming, leathery, spiked Agave, the Century Plant, could well be their botanical cousins.
At dusk while I was crouching under the spreading arms of this ancient plant, it didn’t take much imagination for me to wonder about life in Australia many millions of years ago. How large a beast would it take to nip off those flower spikes, like a sheep nibbling on a daisy?
