A Spalding Community Portrait  

In June 2025 I started meeting and photographing people in Spalding, in the rural mid-North of South Australia. This gallery is a is a fairly random selection of images from the project. I wanted to highlight both the young and the older, the farmers and the townies, the volunteers, the workers, the players and the jokers. Some may be fourth generation in the district, while others have just blown in this year. But in all that diversity, with good community spirit, Spalding can continue to thrive through good times and bad.
The full collection will be on display in the Spalding General Store in October 2026, to mark the 150th anniversary of the town. The exhibition has been supported by Country Arts SA and Regional Arts Australia.
