The Astley Wright bespoke kitchen knife
Andrew and Rachael love to cook. Local South Australian knifemakers Astley Wright are making them a custom designed kitchen knife to last a lifetime.
This blade on the left isn't theirs, which is still being finished, but the final knife will be 16cm long with a Wusthoff style blade and hand carved Mulga handle.
Obviously a one-off knife that isn't in existence yet doesn't have it's own shopify or ebay page, so Rachael's dad built this site to tell you about it.
It may be bespoke and hand crafted, but it costs no more than the equivalent commercial product.
If you'd like this to be your present to Andrew and Rachael you can arrange the details by contacting the knifemaker Phil on 0414 986 894 or at email@example.com
If you love your kitchen, you may be interested in Astley Wright yourself (this is an unsolicited endorsement) The two artisans have a workshop in Port Elliott. You'd be made very welcome if you were to visit next time you're on the South Coast. Phil's shimmering Damascus steel blades have to be seen to be believed and Andrina is a potter who fires and glazes work of uncommon beauty and delicacy.
This is Phil in the Hill Street workshop, and Andrew and Rachael's partly completed knife. The forged and hardened blade is about to be ground and sharpened, and the handle chosen from this timber.
